So just how, and why, did we decide on a USA road trip?

It was January 2009 in deepest, darkest Eaglesham and over the past few months we had been renovating our house – new bathroom, new kitchen and we had many more plans for home improvements.

But the Scottish winter was taking it’s toll on our motivation and enthusiasm (well, our general mental health actually).

So one windy, rainy Sunday I was having a nosey on Expedia and noticed some good flight deals to LA.  Over the next couple of days I couldn’t stop thinking about it – I’d always wanted to drive the iconic Pacific Highway 1 road and see the Grnad Canyon -  so I showed the deals to Angus, who almost choked on his diet Irn Bru.  We weighed up the pros and cons between DIY or USA for about 5 minutes, but there could only be one winner.

Hollywood here we come!
